Knowledge Driven Health

eHealth Asia Conference
(Session Coordinated by Microsoft)

Background

Healthcare is experiencing a transformation that challenges us to evolve from a provider-centric to a patient-centric model of healthcare delivery. New technologies are making it both achievable and affordable for healthcare organizations to meet this challenge, helping to make healthcare more efficient, safer and accessible to all.

Access to knowledge and expertise will be vital as clinicians evolve from being expected to know and remember everything to being experts at finding and applying information. This changing role will require them to be always connected in order to share knowledge and decisions and to form ‘just in time’ teams of qualified professionals to deal with specific problems or patients. With easier access to information and expertise, clinicians can spend more time doing what they are trained for – caring for patients.

The greatest asset we have for healthcare transformation is the knowledge and skill of people and the interactions that bind them together. This is where we need to start, with tools that reflect the way practitioners work and communicate, and technologies that support their changing roles and modes of interaction. We see clinicians with the capability to connect with their peers and systems to find the information they need. We see collaboration of colleagues, teams and organizations to be of central importance for more effective healthcare delivery, and we see technology supporting more informed decision-making at every level of the healthcare system.

Knowledge Driven Health is our investment in assisting this transformation.

Workshop participants will be introduced to:
  • The methods of healthcare provider interaction, the pressures and challenges faced by governments, and some of the solutions for these challenges
  • The opportunity that exists for Patient Relationship Management in the Hospital as well as the opportunity for Case Management within Social Services agencies.
  • The opportunity for leveraging the Microsoft technologies to better manage costs, improve quality and enhance insight across any delivery systems
  • A Technology Implementation Showcase from “GLOCO” a dynamic, innovative IT healthcare systems provider with a wide range of quality IT healthcare and medical imaging systems for Hospitals, Paediatric Clinics, GP Clinics and Dental Clinics.
